Any chance of adding Cancel to potentially long running processes?

Example:  forgot that some of my filters include sound when I decided to filter all messages in my inbox.  'All' was "easier" since there were a lot of messages I was finally getting around to adding a filter for...  I was treated to about 10 minutes of audio pops -- thankfully, I didn't have a longer tune for those messages that simply triggered audio...  LOL

Hmmm...  alternatively, how about a dialog:

       Have you considered pre-selecting with Quick-search?
          [Quick-search]     [Filter]     [Cancel]
