Please support display of headers in message view when fancy is used to display the message in HTML format. It should follow the preference and configuration from in Preferences/Message View/Text Options/Headers/ option "Display headers in message view".
This is out of my scope but <kindoftease>if someone want to work on that I'm highly against it</kindoftease>
Ignore my previous comment, that was for #2803
Doesn't ctrl-H display the full headers for you? It does for the Windows version, and I'm pretty sure it does for Linux too.
Brian, full headers are "Too Much Information" (tm) for basic message knowledge, like for example, all the CC's in an email. The message list itself has too less information. Usually only the sender and subject with a little other meta information. The header pane is limited in its capacity. Therefore the headers in message view are very, very useful. The fact that the list is configurable is even more awesome. To view this information, a user using Fancy for HTML messages has to switch back to text view. Hence the RFE to show that on top of the HTML rendered view of email.
Created attachment 1214 [details] Override header pane visibility setting Attached patch adds a checkbox to fancy preferences which, if enabled, overrides the Claws Mail setting (whether or not to display header pane) if a message is rendered with Fancy, and displays it anyway. It would probably be a good idea to also add a tooltip for the checkbox explaining a bit more what the option does. The checkbox text now reads simply "Override header pane visibility setting". I can add that if Salvatore approves of this patch. :)
Hi, personally I don't find it a good solution. The header pane can be enabled and it would work for text and html as well. So basically, there's already something that works, just enabling the header pane view. I've had a private email talk with someone who was asking almost the same thing but this time showing exactly the same header information of the text message. I've been working on a patch and it's almost done, but due to time leak that's not yet ready. With that patch the header will behave the same way as in text messages.

Salvatore, do you need help with testing out the patch? I'm really waiting for it.
To me this proposed improvement is crucial: I still like Claws-Mail better than Thunderbird (or any other mail program) in most aspects, but I always want some header information whenever I open an e-mail, just like in the display of text messages.

That would indeed be an ideal solution, I seem to remember that we discussed such solution a while back. Is there any progress with the patch? :)
Heya Andrej, sorry for the delay, unfortunately I cannot find that patch anymore, but as I recall it wasn't so near to be completed. I still believe as a kind of workaround is good to enable the option in the message view > text options > Display header pane above message view. This is going to show only a little of the headers, *Waves*
> enable the option in the message view > text options > Display header pane above message view. I can work with that. Is there an option to configure headers to be shown in Header Pane? I would like to see "Date" in Header Pane.
