I do a fair amount of manual filtering on my inbox in order to be able to skim the subject before shuffling messages off into a folder where I'll surely never see them again. I sort my inbox by date, newest on top, so when I begin my day I scroll down to the oldest messages and start reading and filtering. When I filter a message, the next message selected is the newest unread message in my inbox, which is generally the furthest from where I want to be. So I find I filter a message, get bounced to the top of my inbox and they try to scroll back and figure out where I was in chronological order. I've tried changing Preferences:Display:Summaries:Message list - Set default selection when entering a folder, but I don't see that it has any effect in this scenario. Is there any way to configure claws to go to the previously selected message after filtering? Could we add one? Thanks!
Even when I'm filtering as new messages arrive, I may be sitting at the top of a mostly read inbox, I select the new message, filter it and the next message autoselected is the first unread message that may have been from a week ago. I should also mention that my filter action is to move the message to a different folder and hide the message so I don't clutter the inbox with deleted/moved messages. Perhaps the hide action is triggering this jump. I don't see another action that would allow me to control the next selected message, but perhaps that would be a solution as well.
Probably/maybe this can be taken care of along with bug #3600 (feature reuquest)
I'm suffering from this problem too. It happens not only when filtering, but also when executing actions. Tweaking the settings in Preferences:Display:Summaries seems to have no effect.
