I'd appreciate to see at least /italics/ _underline_ and *bold* markdown features evaluated in message view as these are often used in plain text messages. This is done in e.g. thunderbird and kmail. There, "*bold*" is displayed in bold but the asterisks are still displayed. I think it would be even better to have an option to remove them.
